Meet the Orchestra

Established in 1923, the Argyle String Orchestra is Bath's oldest orchestra. We have been dedicated to bringing the beauty of string music to our community for over a century. Our passion for music and commitment to excellence drive us to deliver exceptional performances and share the joy of orchestral music with our audiences.

After 35 years as conductor, Tim Robb stepped down in 2023 and was succeeded by Adam Laughton; this term we are pleased to welcome Antonia Fuchs as leader.

In 2022, following the invasion of Ukraine, the orchestra joined fellow musicians for a fundraising concert in Bath Abbey and has since supported Friends of Oleksandriya through further performances. Members of the Argyle are delighted to be part of this special programme.
